Flaxseed Dal Powder 

Flaxseed dal powder or Flaxseed idly podi is considered as one of the top health foods. A spicy powder to be served with idly, dosa, paratha, dalia, kichadi and upma. These seeds are loaded with nutrients that are sure to boost your health and helps to lose weight. 

Ingredients 

1 cup Flaxseed

½ cup Peanuts

¼ cup Roasted gram

6- 10 Red chilies

Fistful of curry leaves

3-4 Garlic pods

½ tsp Cumin seeds

¼ tsp Hing powder

Salt as required

Method

In a pan dry roast Flaxseeds and peanuts, separately on a medium flame and keep it aside to cool.

To the same pan add roasted gram, red chillis, curry leaves, garlic pod roast well on medium flame and finally add cumin seeds roast for few minutes.

Grind all the ingredients in a mixer to blend to a powder, and finally add salt pulse it for few minutes.

Cool this for 30 minutes and store in an airtight jar, it keeps good for a month.

Spicy and tasty flaxseed powder is ready to be served with hot idly, dosas. 

Flaxseed Burfi

Ingredients

½ cup Flax seed powder

½ cup Walnut, roughly chopped

½ cup Almonds, coarsely ground

½ cup Cashews, coarsely ground

1 tsp Cardamom powder

1 cup palm Sugar

1/4 cup water

Method

Grease the 8-inch plate and set aside.

Dry roast flax seed, over medium heat for about 1 minute. Add walnut, almond and cashew powder. Dry roast for about 2 minutes stirring continuously.

Let it cool in the bowl for a few minutes add cardamom and grind it make a fine powder.

Make a sugar syrup by mixing water over medium heat. To check if the syrup is ready put a drop over the dry surface and check with the finger, it should be just sticky.

Turn off the heat. Add the nuts mixture to the syrup. Mix it well and quickly spread over the greased plate by pressing from all sides.

Cool for a few minutes and cut them into pieces

Keep them in a closed container; Flax Seed Burfi has a longer shelf life of 2 weeks.
